What to know before booking

Pain, cycle changes, unusual discharge, bleeding and fertility difficulty have many causes. Manual assessment cannot determine hormones, infection, endometriosis or tumours and does not replace ultrasound or laboratory investigations prescribed by a physician.

After specialist assessment, functional pain, pelvic-girdle tension or restrictions after surgery or childbirth may persist. The osteopathic physician can assess musculoskeletal contributors and coordinate with gynaecological recommendations.

Can osteopathy treat infertility?+

There is no basis for promising infertility treatment or increased pregnancy rates. Causes are assessed by reproductive specialists; adjunctive care may address associated functional discomfort only.

Do I need clearance from a gynaecologist?+

Formal written clearance is not always needed, but new symptoms, pregnancy, recent surgery or IVF treatment require current guidance from the treating clinician.

May I decline a technique?+

Yes. The physician must explain the aim and format and obtain voluntary consent. Declining a technique does not remove the right to information and recommendations.
